1) Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the EduPlay Studio desktop application (“EduPlay Studio”, “App”) and the website and related services hosted at eduplay-game.web.app (the “Website”), including the PowerPoint add-in pages and the game viewer (collectively, the “Services”).
2) Definitions
- “You” means a teacher, student, organization, or other person using the Services.
- “Content” means projects, questions, images, audio, exports, and any other materials you create, import, or publish using the Services.
- “AI Providers” means third-party AI service providers used to process optional AI features.
3) Information we collect
- Information you provide: Content you create or import in the App (projects, questions, assets), support requests you send to us by email, and any inputs you provide when using optional AI features.
- Content stored locally: By default, project data is saved on your device. It is not uploaded unless you explicitly publish/upload it or otherwise choose a feature that sends data to the web.
- Published or uploaded content: If you publish/upload Content so it can be viewed on the Website or embedded via the PowerPoint add-in, that Content may be stored in our hosting/database infrastructure and retrieved using a link or identifier (e.g., a game_id).
- Usage and device data: The Website and hosting providers may collect standard server logs and technical data (such as IP address, user agent, date/time of requests, and referring URLs) for security, debugging, and performance.
- PowerPoint add-in data: The add-in may access content in the PowerPoint document as needed to import, embed, and sync viewer content (within the permissions granted by Office).
- AI feature data (optional): If you use Edubot/AI features, your prompts, selections, and attached materials may be transmitted to AI Providers to generate outputs. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any Content you submit.
4) How we use information
- To provide and operate the Services (create/edit projects, export/publish, embed and view games in PowerPoint, and render content in the Website viewer).
- To maintain safety, security, and integrity (detect abuse, prevent fraud, troubleshoot errors, and protect against malicious activity).
- To respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Services.
- To process optional AI requests when you choose to use AI features.
5) Legal bases (where applicable)
Depending on your location, we may process personal data under legal bases such as performance of a contract (providing the Services), legitimate interests (security and operations), consent (optional features), and compliance with legal obligations.
6) Sharing and disclosure
- Service providers: We may share information with infrastructure providers and vendors that help operate the Services (for example hosting, storage, and database providers such as Firebase, and AI Providers for optional AI features).
- Compliance and protection: We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or investigate suspected misuse.
- Business transfers: If the Services are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- No sale: We do not sell your personal data.
7) Data retention
- Local projects: Project files stored locally remain on your device until you delete them.
- Published content: If you publish/upload Content, we may retain it until you delete it or request deletion, subject to technical constraints and backups.
- Logs: Server logs may be retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymized.
8) Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9) International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, depending on where service providers operate. We take steps intended to ensure appropriate safeguards where required.
10) Children’s privacy
The Services are primarily intended for teachers and educational institutions. If you are a parent/guardian and believe a child has provided personal data without consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11) Your rights and choices
- You may request access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal data we hold about you, where applicable.
- You may object to or restrict certain processing, where applicable.
- You may withdraw consent for optional features (such as AI features) at any time by not using those features.
12) Third-party links and services
The Services may include links to third-party websites or services (e.g., GitHub, Office, AI Providers). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at /privacy with the “Last updated” date.
